The Twenty Sixth Annual Christmas Parade in Corvallis, OR.

This year's theme was " The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh to grandma's house".
Alyssa Chart on her horse Lacey. Alyssa is part of the Benton County 4h Horse Court, running for the Rodeo Queen for 2011. She has been riding horses her whole life, and has had Lacey for 3 years.

This is the line up of the entire 4h Horse Court representing Benton County Rodeo, waiting for the parade to start. From left to right: Alyssa Chart on Lacey, Clara Crocker on Newt ( current 2010 Rodeo Queen), Karen Hoagland on Rocket, Haley Harlow on Prairie, and Nicole Schrock on Ringo.

Nicole Schrock, Miss NPRA (North West Pro Rodeo Association) getting ready for the Xmas parade. She was there representing all the rodeo's in the NPRA.

The chilly weather didn't even stop this lovely Beagle from showing her Xmas spirit.

One of the many Christmas floats that appeared at the parade this year in Corvallis, OR. Mickey Mouse dressed as Santa, a ginger bread house displaying delicious treats, and a colorful snowman all wishing the Corvallis community a Merry Christmas. What more could you ask for?

I am not sure what my subject is going to be regarding the photo essay. But I will look around for a topic this week and hopefully come to a conclusion. It will probably be a social event, such as volunteering, a festival, or a neighborhood event.

At the downtown Station 11 in Albany,OR, we find Don Schlies, who is the Lt. Deputy Fire Marshal 111. He has been a firefighter for over 30 years. He was the Assistant Chief at Stayton for several years. He has been with the Albany Fire Department for 18 years.
Just slight southwest of OSU lies Bruce Starker Arts Park. This park has it's own community garden that is ran by Master Gardener's. The Master Gardeners have a program set up through OSU where they educate Oregonians about the art of growing and caring for your plants. Pictured here is Master Gardener and soon to be President Kathi Tucker, as she gets ready to dump leaf mulch on the dead crops. Or as they like to call it " putting the garden to bed." They do this because it helps keep the rain out, keeps weeds from growing, and helps feed the soil for better crops the following summer.

At the northwest end of Dr.Martin Luther Jr. park, you can find this little gem. A bus stop at the corner of Ponderosa and Deer Run that has painted on the side a quote from the 1980's movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
